I have been painting throughout my life I was influenced and encouraged by my mother at young age to continue my creativity through art. While attending college I gravitated towards perfecting my skills in watercolor painting and learning to apply technique in a spontaneous and fluid manner.

Currently I continue my creative skills in painting in acrylics as I have found to be more flexible and durable enough to incorporate the use of metallic colors within my paintings.

I presently I work on paper secured onto canvas using acrylic gel mediums, spray-paint, pastels, pen & ink, wax paper, aluminum foil and napkins adding interest through application of texture within my mix media paintings. I continue to exhibit through Los Angeles County.

Based in Des Moines, Iowa, Kelly Boon studied at the University of Iowa in Fine Arts and received a BA in Arts Education in 1982 from Colorado State University. Kelly is known for her large oil paintings as an American Colorist. Iconic artist Edna Hibel, credited Kelly’s work as an “artist who truly understands color.” Non-traditional spaces under renovation, sanctuaries and wholistic healing centers are often venues that host Kelly’s work, bringing the art to the people. Her work has been exhibited mostly throughout the midwest and represented internationally.

Deeply influenced by a 20-year journey in the Lakota Way, Kelly participated in a sacred ceremony, HaŋbléčeyA (A Cry For A Dream.) Through this vision quest Kelly was guided to paint very large and was told the paintings would help bring healing to the people. In 2018, this collection of twelve paintings were exhibited for the first time in union with nature in an outdoor exhibit. Following this exhibit, Kelly worked with local imagers and printers to design a process for printing her work on metal and stone for permanent outdoor display. Currently this collection called, HaŋbléčeyA, is being considered for images on thirty foot stones for the PEARL STONEHENGE which will be created in four locations in the four directions of the world as portals for a medicine wheel.

Kelly has recently extended her work to include shamanic drums personalized to enhance the vibrations of the heartbeat of the people. The drums are painted through prayer. Each is created as a vessel of love.

Hortensia Bueno

Bio

Hortensia Bueno is a Mexican artist enchanted by magical realism. In her world, women are sensuous, self-assured, and full of love. These women are real, sometimes mystical, but always magical. They possess a “je ne sais quoi” that will make heads turn. Hortensia’s world is also filled with tropical reptiles, birds reminiscent of her early work in southeast Mexico when she was part of a team that restored the mural paintings in archeological sites. Churches, dogs, and cats similarly come into being in her art in a playful manner.

Moises Ivan Cruz Altamirano

Moises Ivan Cruz Altamirano
"Mufasa"

Bio
×

Moises Ivan Cruz Altamirano, also known as Mufasa, is the visionary artist behind Mufasa Arte. Born in Mexico City, he inherits the rich cultural legacies of Oaxaca from his father and Nayarit from his mother.

At the age of 12, Moises immigrated to the United States, where he worked in construction, roofing, and sales. Yet, despite these various roles, his passion for art and music never wavered.

A pivotal moment in Moises' life occurred when he tragically lost his father, aunt, and uncle within just a few days. This deep loss sparked a vision—a desire to blend the traditional Oaxacan barro negro with the intricate chaquira beadwork of Nayarit, uniting artisans from both regions to create something truly unique.

Driven by this vision, Moises left his life in the U.S. and returned to Mexico, determined to find master artisans who could bring his dream to life. Today, Mufasa Arte is more than just a brand—it’s a movement dedicated to preserving cultural heritage, creating sustainable jobs, and empowering indigenous communities.

Each piece crafted by Mufasa Arte is infused with not only exceptional craftsmanship but also energy, intention, and tradition. It’s art with a soul. Our work sustains long-term employment for the Wixarika families, who return to their communities, sharing the prosperity earned through their craftsmanship.
